Owners of the popular Nintendo DSi handheld gaming system may have heard of a device called the Acekard 2i. The Acekard is a flash cart which is essentially a blank cartridge which has been reprogrammed to utilize a security flaw in the Nintendo DSi handheld gaming system allowing users to bypass typical security and run backup games and homebrew. The Acekard 2i comes with the Acekard 2i game cartridge and a complimentary USB MicroSD Card Reader. Users will quickly notice the Acekard 2i utilizes a MicroSD slot which enabled users to use the MicroSD Card Reader on their PC to load homebrew or ROMs (backup games). Acekard 2i menu has a nature feel and can be controlled with either the hardware buttons or entirely by touch. Initial setup requires the user to insert the Acekard 2i into the Nintendo DSi and then load several necessary firmware files onto the MicroSD card from the Acekard Website. The user will then install the MicroSD card into the Acekard 2i unit which is plugged into the Nintendo DSi; once this process is complete and new Acekard menu is available for the user to utilize the functions of the Acekard 2i. The performance of the Acekard 2i is outstanding and currently supports everyone game currently released with no known exceptions of compatability issues at this time. The Acekard was able to games such as Castlevania from start to finish including the introduction at full speed with no slow down or "lag" straight from the Micro SD card. Download Play games work perfectly with the Acekard 2i and do not suffer problems as they do with other flash carts. Multiplayer games via the Nintendo Wi-Fi connection did not experience any problems and worked just fine. The Acekard 2i allows users to utilize basic media files right out of the box such as DSM and MP3 files in addition to basic text documents. The Acekard 2i has some additional features such as support for cheat codes on the ROM files. The Acekard 2i also has a very detailed skinning engine that allows users to customize everything on-screen and well over 20 customizable objects to place and arrange. Finally the Acekard 2i supports many different languages and of course Micro SDHC support. The Acekard 2i is a great tool for anybody who uses a Nintendo DSi and will allow you to unlock the Nintendo DSi's full potential.
